Data and Strategy Associate

The Data and Strategy Associate performs the following responsibilities:

  • Conducts advanced analytics to transform complex datasets into insights for institution decision-making, strategy formulation, benchmarking, and policy development. This includes using mathematical and statistical techniques, developing predictive models to forecast future outcomes, synthesizing data, and/or creating visualizations.
  • Manages institutional research projects from start to finish, including scoping and defining projects, identifying and prioritizing key questions and data sources, developing data collection and analysis plans, and communicating and discussing results and recommendations to institutional leaders and stakeholders.
  • Works across data domains and in collaboration with other key staff to help generate reports in a variety of areas, such as research, financial aid, enrollment, student success, and faculty and staff demographics. May also help to generate reports to meet external reporting requirements from governmental agencies, accrediting bodies, and other stakeholders.

Strategic Communication Coordinator

The Strategic Communication Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the development and execution of communication strategies for the Office of Strategy, Planning, and Analysis. Working alongside a strategic and creative team, the Strategic Communication Coordinator promotes WSU’s system strategic plan and other important initiatives. The position requires exceptional communication skills, as they are responsible for creating compelling and informative digital and print materials for intended audiences.

In this highly creative position, the Strategic Communication Coordinator is responsible for developing and producing a variety of communication materials. This includes work such as designing marketing collateral like flyers and brochures, crafting social media posts and advertisements, drafting press releases and stories, and coordinating events. Additionally, the Coordinator supports strategic planning processes for the university.

As a Strategic Communication Coordinator, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to empower the WSU community to reach its goals, while also developing their own professional skills and knowledge. The position is in Pullman, Washington, with occasional travel to other WSU campuses. The role offers flexibility with the schedule and a possible hybrid work model.

Strategic Communication Intern

As stewards of the WSU System Strategic Plan, we are looking for two students to support our planning and communication efforts. These hands-on roles may be a regular part-time position or a 3-credit internship; both are paid and will work 20 hours a week. These students will assist the Director of Strategic Communication to implement aggressive communication strategies in the following ways:

  •  PR and marketing campaign implementation
  • Regular creative and strategy meetings
  • Project coordination
  • Content creation in at least two of the following areas:
    • Graphic Design
    • Social Media
    • Writing
    • Website development
    • Video
  • Assist in other work with strategic planning, including environmental scanning.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Required: Graphic design skills. Must be able to efficiently use Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Premiere Pro a plus. Must have passed COM210 with a B or higher.
  • Required: Strong Writing skills
  • Required soft skills: Time management, reliable, detail oriented, strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Desired: Experience with techniques used in advertising, media communications, social media and public relations.
  • Required: Junior or Senior status
